Background[]
Born in the remains of the Midwest Commonwealth, near the ruins of Minneapolis, Tom was always fascinated with pre-war history. Once he was old enough to strike out on his own, he began a holy pilgrimage across the remains of these once-great United States. He began by heading Southwest, and spent much of his young adult life working with and for the Followers of the Apocalypse in their attempts to recover and preserve the shared past of the Wastelands. He never settled, and didn't feel any strong draw to officially join any faction or government, instead enjoying the freedom of independence.
A decade ago, he began hearing rumours about a lost trove of pre-war history in the far-flung Capital Wasteland. After drumming up support from contacts and allies to fund such a drastic journey, Tom set out for the East. He took his time as he traveled finding what he could and hiring a string of couriers to return large or functionally useless artifacts back to the Mojave; at least at first. As he got further and further from civilization, he began to think more practically and started to find local buyers where possible. A few years ago, he finally arrived in the Capital Wasteland. Ever since, he's been fishing for leads pointing towards this lost trove. Now, he can tell he's growing close. Soon, the Smithsonian will be found and Tom will usher in a new age of history and learning (or so he hopes). In the meantime, he does his best to do good and improve the lives of those around him.
